SWEDISH HARD POP ACT SIGNED TO SUCCESSFUL INDIE LABEL SEEKING LICENSING DEAL FOR THE STATES:

CALLAHAN (Sweden). Signed by good friend Peter Astedt, Owner of succesful Swedish Indie Label DEADFROG RECORDS in Stockholm. The band's song "Baby, I Will Miss You" has an infectious pop chorus (although the arrangement could get you to the meat of the hook a bit faster - the first rendition of the chorus is after the 2nd verse at 1:25 into the track). Word is the group's debut EP is selling well. Peter Astedt will be in NYC in the coming weeks seeking licensing opportunities for the band. EMAIL ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TALKING WITH PETER. What caught my ear was the simple, but ultra catchy hook of the chorus for "Baby, I Will Miss You." The vocal inflection is cool as well, at times a bit reminiscent of David Bowie. CHECK OUT "BABY, I WILL MISS YOU" BELOW OR CLICK HERE TO VISIT CALLAHAN ON DEADFROG RECORDS.

LESLEY ROY (Ireland). 19 Year old artist in the vein of Avril, from Religion Music in Ireland. I understand from Glenn that at least two majors are taking a serious look and that A&R World, Music Week, and Hit Quarters are already on the tip. CHECK OUT LESLEY'S TRACK "A THOUSAND PIECES" ON TUNEWERKZ PLAYER ABOVE! Email Glenn Herlihy at RELIGION MUSIC for more information.

JOSH BLACKBURN (Destin, FL) 24 Year old frontman, guitarist, and songwriter. *NEW TRACK "IT'S JUST PHYSICAL"* fresh from the studio and BLOWING UP AT WKSM 99 Rock in Northwest Florida . When a song starts blowing up at local radio with huge phones and key drive time spins - it's time to move them up to "A&R Recommed" and that's what is happening for It's Just Physical. Track was produced by Cox & Lane at Destin Recordings. CONTACT: SOUNDWERKZ ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE 411

PERFECT CONFUSION. (Bowling Green, KY) Early 20's band reminiscent of Beck meets Blind Melon, Joy Division, mix a little Jet and a pinch of Sublime and it's a very hip thing. "BEAT YOUR EARDRUMS" sounds like an IPOD Commercial waiting to happen (which, given the power of that media, could launch the band into the stratoshere on its own merit). "GOVERNMENT SONG" is a fresh thing and rather politically charged. Although it takes until 1:30 to get to the first verse, the song is worth it. I dig the vocal delivery, the lyric and attitude mixed with the deep grooves. It's unique. It's the type of song that could be a surprise success from left field. Guitar tones and musicianship are superb. The lyric and song are rather infectious and both grow on you. Who wouldn't agree with "it's the government, twisted politicians, I feel paranoid..." or "liquid gold is in the holy land and cheney would like to take a bite..." CONTACT SOUNDWERKZ

FAILSAFE (Tulsa, OK) Demos produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium, God Forbid). Check out the track "EVERYTHING" ON TUNEWERKZ ABOVE.

PARALLEL (South Carolina). "Wake Me" getting specialty spins at WEND 106.5FM in Charlotte, NC. Local draw 600+ and Budweiser sponsorship. In addition to the Jack's vocal talents, I am sincerely impressed with their ability to write consistently great pop/rock songs. Additional songs are available. EMAIL: SOUNDWERKZ for information. The band will likely return to the studio in Florida in early 2006. Next showcase January, 2006.

JOSH FIX (San Fransisco, CA). 26 year old composer/songwriter/singer. I first heard Josh's track "Jethro" on XM Unsigned and loved it from the first listen...sends chills down my neck. Reminiscent of Queen, Black Crowes and early Elton John. Josh is receiving critical acclaim for his talent and songs (and rightfully so). A few highlights from the bio include supporting the "Who", gigs at L.A.'s Knitting Factory (large draw), sold-out San Francisco crowd at the Independent (600+ turnout), spins at KFOG (Triple A) in San Francisco, billings with The Vines, Hot Hot Heat, Super Furry Animals, The Music, The Who, Counting Crows and Grandaddy. 2003 winner of the San Francisco GRAMMY chapter’s Best Unsigned Artist contest (for his self-produced “Whiskey & Speed”).

I really enjoy the track "Can't Shake Me" as well. My suggestion is pick up a copy of the latest material and enjoy!CONTACT SOUNDWERKZ for more info or visit www.joshfix.com for more info (be sure to tell him Soundwerkz sent ya!).

SEVEN REASONS (Northern California). What first caught my ear about this band was Mike Jones lead vocals. Straight melodic rock in the neighborhood of Theory of a Deadman; Three Doors Down; Nickelback; maybe a taste of Alice In Chains on darker material, although perhaps a bit earthier. I particularly feel "Headlights" and "I Become" have great rock radio appeal/potential. CONTACT SOUNDWERKZ

UPDATE JULY: Reed reaches approximately 3,000 in download single sales s on Fresh Tracks Music. Congrats to Reed & 13th Street Special on the feature and interview. REED WADDLE. At 22, Reed's voice and music is truly coming into its own space. Since featuring "I Saw Stars" almost two years ago, I have been following Reed's development. The raw talent is pretty much undeniable. The addition of his band "13th Street Special" and time in the woodshed are evident. With this latest batch of songs, Reed has the potential to take the next step. The production on the album is top notch (hats off to Dave Cox at MGI/Destin Recording). Contact Soundwerkz. Jeremiha (Sweden) Keyboard/ Guitar driven 80's rock/pop. Ages 22 -25 years. I feel this material simply nails the 80's revival. Reminiscent of Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears. Visit DEADFROG RECORDS to learn more. Listen to tracks on tunewerkz.

PYSCHO SONIC CINDY Album: "START IT UP" (Deadfrog Records). The band has garnered solid credibility and support on the Stockholm underground rock/punk scene. I like the attitude and buzzines of it all. Check out the title track "Start It Up" on Tunewerkz. LISTEN on tunewerkz

THE DIABLEROS (Toronto, Canada) Darker Synth/Organ Pop/Alternative. You gotta check out the song "TROPICAL PETS" at www.thediableros.tv to get the feel and coolness of this 6 piece band.

CHRIS LOVE (Memphis, TN). 22 year old singer / songwriter / guitarist / drummer / keyboardist. I dig what Chris has going on - quality material. The mix of R&B/Soul/Rock is a breathe of fresh air to be honest. My favorite track to date is "I don't love you anymore" from Chris' debut album "On My Way Out." To quote from Chris' website the album is "rock-soul fusion spawned by Love’s passion for the two genres ... his songwriting and compositions featured on the album capture the signature sound of Memphis music and Love’s own twist on contemporary music stylings." CHECK OUT CHRIS LOVE ON MYSPACE.COM/CHRISLOVE and spread the word.

SAM ASHWORTH (Nashville, TN). 22 year old singer/songwriter with influences including Belle and Sebastian, Auteurs, Paul McCartney, Cat Stevens, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Neil Young, Kula Shakur, among others. Sam's also a member of the ASTRONAUT PUSHERS along with John Davis (Superdrag), Lindsay Jameison (Ben Folds/Depature Lounge), and Matt Slocum (Sixpence None The Richer), the band is in the process of finishing work on their EP. I split over to their site to hear "Cut Me Off" and "Let Love In." Both very cool and dare I say, artistic, tracks. Visit SAMASHWORTH.COM for more info and CHECK OUT AN MP3 of "ELEANOR" below.

MATT MAYS & EL TORPEDO (Nova Scotia, Canada) Album Release "Cocaine Cowgirl" on Sonic Records. From the first chords of "Stand Down at Sundown" Matt Mays drips americana rockness ... straight forward, melodic, honest rock and roll. If I had to compare, I would have to give nods to Tom Petty, Neil Young, and FooFighters. I really dig the band. Check out WWW.MATTMAYS.COM for more information and pickup a copy of "COCAINE COWGIRL" for yourself. In my opinion, this type of honest music and the artists forging ahead because they are true to themselves will prevail over hype and buzz. ROB'S RECOMMENDATION: PICK UP A COPY OF MATT MAYS & EL TORPEDO'S "COCAINE COWGIRL" ! Show the love and spread the word.
